Moving Checklist for New Residents
At Orecchio Properties, we want your move-in experience to be smooth and stress-free. Use this checklist to make sure everything is ready before you pick up your keys.
✅ Before You Move In
- Submit your application and pay the $35 non-refundable application fee.
- Provide supporting documents: valid government-issued ID and income verification (or co-signer paperwork if applicable).
- Pay your security deposit through your online portal after your lease is approved.
- Sign your lease electronically (we will email this to you for convenience).
⚡ Utilities
Unless otherwise noted in your lease, residents are responsible for arranging utilities before moving in:
- Electricity – First Energy (Weirton/Wellsburg) or AEP (Steubenville)
- Gas – Mountaineer Gas (Weirton) or Columbia Gas (Steubenville)
- Water/Sewer/Trash – City of Weirton, City of Steubenville, or local providers

🏡 Renters Insurance
- All residents are required to carry renters insurance with minimum $100,000 liability coverage.
- You may use your own provider or choose our convenient $9.50/month option, billed with rent.
🛠 Online Resident Portal
- Activate your resident portal to:
- Pay rent securely online
- Submit maintenance requests
- View your account balance and payment history
- Call our office to receive your activation email link.
📦 Move-In Day
- Arrange moving transportation in advance.
- Make sure utilities are active before your move-in date.
- Bring your first month’s rent (prorated if moving mid-month).
- Complete the move-in inspection form and note any issues.
- Change the locks? No need — we handle that for you!
📝 Helpful Tips
- Set up mail forwarding with the post office.
- Update your address with your bank, employer, and insurance provider.
- Stock up on moving supplies (boxes, tape, labels).
- Label boxes clearly by room for easier unpacking.
